Annotation

The article sums up the ethnographic field work in the Cossack villages of the Orenburg and Chelyabinsk Regions in 2002 to 2011; the writer analyses the materials collected from the descendants of the Cossacks, which characterize their attitudes to their group, to the Old Believers and the official Russian Orthodox Church, as well as to members of other ethnicities.
